Environmental responsibility
ACOME's commitments to environmental preservation
As part of its energy and environment policy, ACOME is committed to:
Complying with legislation, environmental regulations and any other requirements applicable to its activities, from a life cycle perspective;
- Constantly seeking to improve its energy performance and increase the use of renewable energies;
- Reducing significant environmental impacts and constantly seeking to improve its environmental performance, in particular as relates to water discharges and atmospheric emissions;
- Developing a voluntary approach to offset CO2 emissions;
- Applying the principles of prevention and precaution;
- Promoting eco-citizen actions;
- Managing all our commitments within the company and with our partners.
ACOME's industrial site environmental management system is certified ISO 14001 version 2015.
A pioneer in eco-design
ACOME has been involved in eco-design since 2006. This global approach includes product life cycle analysis (LCA), recyclability rates and environmental impact indicators.
All information from the LCA is recorded in a Product Environmental Profile (PEP), registered with the PEP Ecopassport® association, of which ACOME is one of the founding members.
Controlled use of resources and waste management
- During the production phase, ACOME continues to reduce its energy consumption;
- Action plans save more than 200 tonnes of raw material waste (copper, plastic) per year at the Group level;
- Use of industrial water is enhanced at the Group's industrial sites;
- True to this vision of a circular economy, the Romagny-Fontenay industrial site (France) recycles nearly 90% of the waste from packaging and industrial processes. Recycling of wood from non-reusable pallets and used drums provides the site's main heating fuel. 468 tonnes of gas per year, the equivalent of 5381MWh, are thereby saved;
- Greenhouse gas emissions and other atmospheric emissions (SF6 in particular) are under control.

Normandie Forever: carbon offsetting and biodiversity development
To help reduce the environmental footprint of its industrial activity in Normandy, ACOME has also developed a local carbon offset mechanism. The association Normandie Forever, in which ACOME counts among the founding members, offers a solution for CO2 sequestration by reforesting plots unsuitable for agriculture.
Since 2014, three reforestation projects have been carried out. In 2019, new plantations will cover 2 hectares in the Bourberouge forest a few kilometres from Mortain.
